Coconut floor mats from the Gift Company are handmade in the south of India. The farmers there process every single part of the coconut. To make the coconut mats, the shell of the coconut is crushed by hand to extract the fibers for the mat. In a small village, located in the coast of Keria, the fibres are woven and printed with our designs. For each doormat the shells of about 40 coconuts are needed. Your coconut mat is a natural product and biodegradable. You can vacuum or tap the mat. To keep the mat looking good, it should not be exposed to moisture or heavy rain for long periods of time.
